Club Routes -  Short (up to 55km)

Richmond Park - 26-47km

There are several Richmond Park options, there are several ways to get there, several ways back and not even just clockwise (CW) or anti-clockwise (ACW). You can also add the inner road and there are several entrances and exits.
Occasionally we find ourselves saying it’s boring doing the same route over and over again but we are so lucky to have Richmond Park so close. The park changes from season to season, there are dear, jackdaws and dozens of other wildlife. Not to mention of course cyclists and two cafes. The rides listed here are of varying length and using various routes but you can of course change and swap them around or just use them as a guide and make up your own route.
For the number fans the park is 10.8km in length and 52m of elevation change. Which ever way you decide to go round the park you have 2 hills, the tough ones are on the south side and the equally high but longer ones are up to Richmond Gate.

Esher Loop - 50km

The Esher loop is definitely the SaddleDrunk favourite loop. Not because we do it every weekend but because it’s about the perfect length for a week-day ride, early in the morning, before lunch or in the summer evenings. It has the perfect mixture of flats and hills, takes in Sion, Bushy and Richmond Parks and dotted with cafes for when we take the new cyclists. If you get tired at Esher you can go to Giro Cafe and head home avoiding any more hills otherwise there are a few smaller loops before heading back towards Kingston and back through Richmond Park.

Chertsey Loop - 53km (flat)

Probably one of the most ridden routes in our library. This route is about as flat as they come, the biggest hill is the “climb” from Brentford back up to Ealing. After Sion Park and Isleworth the route weaves its way through the back streets of Whitton towards Feltham. There we find a nice 3km stretch of road along the side of the Queen Mary Reservoir, great for those looking for a blast. The route continues past the new Shepperton film studios to Laleham before turning a sharp left to join the river (see photo). This is a beautiful quiet road and another section that can be enjoyed at a walking pace to taken as challenge. After a short detour from the river we rejoin it again at the bottom of Dockett Eddy Lane. Another beautiful section between the houses and river. At the bottom of Ferry Lane (29km) there is an option stop at the cafe which overlooks the river. A great place for an ice cream in the summer and the ferry takes bikes too if you fancy returning on the other side of the river. From here we join a very popular road back towards Hampton Court. This is a 5+km long road with little more than a few roundabouts and a village, a lovely section of road and a favourite for Strava segments. Finally through Bushy Park before heading back through Twickenham and Isleworth towards Ealing. Coffee at the Moon and Maybe is mandatory.
